The popular and biggest online poker site PokerStars has been enjoying great success with it’s first season of the new Asia-Pacific, Poker Tour that got underway in August.

The APPT by PokerStars is going to be extensive and is carrying the message of poker over to its newest market and what many believe will develop into its hottest market in the future.

Asian poker players from the Philippines to Australia will be able to join in with world poker players and take advantage of this comprehensive poker tour and the tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific area will also benefit from the PokerStars APPT tour.

PokerStars already has a proven track record after being behind the hugely successful European Poker Tour (EPT) which is now into its fourth season and has grown to be one of the most prestigious tournament circuits in the world along with the World Poker Tour (WPT) and the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

It is hoped over time that the APPT will be able to gain the same level of prestige as the EPT and help bring the Asia-Pacific region to the center of the world stage by making it a top destination for poker. The APPT will showcase the best casinos and the best locations that Asia has to offer.

The APPT schedule for the first season is packed full of beautiful and interesting locations that should appeal to even the most seasoned poker traveler. The first three events have already take place with the first event taking place in Manila, Philippines between 23-26 August.

The second event moved the APPT onto Seoul, South Korea and took place in the Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel and Casino running between 27-30 September. Both these events were televised and enjoyed great turnouts showing great support and interest in this new tour.

The most recent event was held in Macau, China at the Grand Waldo Hotel & Casino between 23-25 November and at this event on top of the normal $2,500 buyin main event they also held a ‘high rollers’ tournament which had a $15,000 buyin and attracted some of the biggest names in poker.

The Grand Final of the APPT season one is fast approaching and will be held at Star City Casino in Sydney, Australia between 12-16 December. The grand final has an increased buy in of $5,700 which is more than double the $2,500 buy in from the other events.

You can win your seat to all the APPT events including the upcoming grand final in Sydney Australia through the satellites running now on Pokerstars.
