The long awaited first Poker News Cup was held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne Australia on the 27th October played over three days. Many of the entrants had won seats to this event by signing up to the sponsered poker rooms through websites like Poker Tournament Watch and winning the many sattelites that ran for this event.A total of 428 players started out the $3,000 but in event creating a total prize pool of $1,198,400 AUD. After two long days play we finally reached the final table stages of the tournament and the chip rankings were as follows.
Final Table Chip Rankings:
- 1st Kenny Ng $2,004,000
- 2nd Jordan Lamberg $1,619,000
- 3rd Grant Levy $1,458,000
- 4th Dory Zayner $1,185,000
- 5th Mouris Ahou $772,000
- 6th Ozzie Yildiz $560,000
- 7th Tanya Hill $511,000
- 8th John Maver $455,000
After a cagey start to this final table we had to wait until the 38th hand of play before we lost our first player. Tanya Hill on the short stack moved All In with
and was called by Jordan Lamberg holding
Lamberg paired his Seven on the Flop and with the final board showing
was good enough to take the pot and eliminate Hill out in 8th place.
Mouris Ahou was the next player to leave the event going All In pre flop with
he was beaten by Dory Zayner with pocket Eights. Neither player hit the board of
leaving Ahou to collect £35,900 for his 7th place finish. This win put Zayner in a clear chip lead on around 2.4 million in chips.
The chip lead swung from player to player from this point onwards so it took quite a while before we witnessed the next elimination. This came on the 93rd hand of play. Kenny Ng raised first of all to $350,000, Jordan Lamberg moved All In for $1,556,000. Dory Zayner thought for a while but folded after Ng called out of turn to which the table reminded him of the rules. Ng revealed

Down to heads up and Dory Zayner had a small chip lead over Ng with 4.8 million in chips compared to Ng’s 3.7 million. Considering these large chip stacks it didn’t take long before we had our champion. Zayner raised 700,000 on the button and Ng moves All In to which Zayner called. Zayner showed
