As the first event get under way at the World Series of Poker this year a question being debated across the card rooms over the globe is “Who will be the first player to reach 11 career WSOP bracelets”.  Most people will have put here money on three top contenders in the race all now into double figures on 10 WSOP bracelets wins.

First we have Johnny Chan, the first player to reach 10 bracelet wins, and only one of two people to win the WSOP main event and  back to back main event wins making this achievement back in 1988.  Johnny  moved to Phoenix from Hong Kong as a boy and now resides in Las Vegas.

The second man like Chan has two WSOP main event wins both of them being back to back.  Doyle Brunson from Longworth, Texas dominating the WSOP poker scene in the early - mid 1980’s and installed into the poker hall of fame back in 1988.  He now is currently one of the oldest players on the circuit at 74 years of age and can mostly be found at some of the largest cash games in LasVegas.  Brunson reached double figures in bracelet wins only six events after Chan had reached this land mark in 2005.

Lastly we have Phil Hellmuth also known as “The Poker Brat” around the poker circuit, this is mainly down to his speech play and mood swings making watching his table very entertaining. There’s always a good crowd watching a table when Phil Hellmuth is playing.  Hellmuth is probably one of the most successful consistent WSOP players in the history of the Series as he holds the record number of cash finishes on 57.  Ten of those were wins, his first bracelet came beating Johnny Chan in the main event in 1989 stopping Johnny getting his hat trick WSOP wins in an unprecedented third win in a row, his tenth win came last year making him the third man in WSOP history to reach double figures in WSOP wins levelling the leader board with Chan and Brunson.
