The biggest starting field so far made it for the third starting day (day 1C) at the 2009 World Series of Poker main event with 1,697 players starting out.  The field was packed with well known poker pro’s with the likes of Scotty Nguyen, Jamie Gold, Dennis Philips, Joe Hachem, Daniel Negreanu, John Juanda, Jeff Lisandro and many more.  Phil Hellmuth made a grand entrance on a Roman Cedar chair accompanied by many dressed up models as he took to his seat.

There were a few notable casualties early on as David Rheem, David Saab and Daniel Negreanu all headed for the rail.  Jamie Gold also went out early on getting his chips in with :ac :qd against pocket Jacks.  The Jacks held up as the board bricked out for Gold.  As the day went on we saw the 1983 champion Tom McEvoy going out along with David Singer, Brandon Cantu and Liv Boeree.

The day finished up on level five, one more level than the previous two days due to the larger starting field.  At the top of the leader board and also overall leader for the first three days was Joe Coda on $187,225 in chips.  Other big name players making it to day two was Phil Hellmuth, Marc Naalden, Justin Bonomo, Joe Hachem, Howard Lederer and Dennis Philips.
