World Series of Poker 2009 Main Event Day 4

789 players returned for day four of the 2009 World Series of Poker main event. There was 648 paid places so it didn’t take too long for the bubble to come about. Kia Hamadani was the unfortunate player who turned out to be the 2009 main event bubble boy.
The usual post bubble eliminations came with a flurry with some big names going out during this period. Former champ Chris Ferguson went out when he got all his chips in with

only to find his opponent holding
Phil Hellmuth’s main event came to an end loosing a big pot to Ebrahim Mourshaki and then loosing the rest of his chips in a four way pot.
As the day wore on the notable eliminations included Jesper Hougaard, Mike Sexton, David Williams, Justin Bonomo and Paul Wasicka. Online qualifier Matt Affleck had a great day surging to the top of the leader board ending the day on 1.8 million in chips. The day three chip leader Bertrand Grospellier had a solid day and remained close to the top 10 along with Phil Ivey. Just 407 players bagged up their chips at the close of play to return for day five.
