Event twelve at the World Series of Poker 2007  was a $1,500 buy-in tournament playing 6 Handed No Limit Hold’em. The total prize pool of $1,947,855 was generated by a large field of 1427 players entering this event. A total of 126 places were paid with the winner set to get $481,698.

The event was scheduled to be played out over three days, with the final table to be contested on the third day.Only sixty two players survived the first days play with J.C. Tran winner of the WPT player of the year award, leading the chip rankings on $150,000, followed by Clinton Bushn on $140,000. As the bubble had burst on the first day the pressure was off the short stacked players needing to double up and more to have a shot at one of the six available seats on the final table.

When we reached the end of day two, it was Jason Warner leading the way with $945,000 in chips. Not too far behind Warner was David Zeitlin on $899,000 in second place. Matt Brady was on the short stack with $381,000 but wasn’t too far out of touch with the other five players and a double up would put him right back in the mix.

Final Table Chip Standings:

  • 1st Jason Warner $945,000
  • 2nd David Zeitlin $899,000
  • 3rd Brian Miller $831,000
  • 4th David Mitchell-Lolis $736,000
  • 5th Steven Olek $484,000
  • 6th Matt Brady $381,000

The final table started out with Jason Warner dominating proceedings eliminating two players in quick succession. First he took out Brian Miller in a huge pot, and then knocking out Matt Brady on the short stack into 5th place taking $92,523.

Not too long after this we lost a further two players, first David Mitchell-Lolis was eliminated in 4th when getting caught out pushing with the short stack. Straight after this Steve Olex decided to go for it holding :ks :10d but was called by David Zeitlin with :ac :10s Both players missed the board and Olex was out in third winning $186,020.

Heads Up didn’t last long either with the final hand coming on just over the half hour mark. David Zeitlin moved All In with his remaining $600,000 with :qh :4s and Jason Warner calls holding :ad :6d The Flop missed both players coming down :9c :3s :7h The Turn though put Zeitlin in the lead coming down :4h and was favourite to take down the pot. But the River :6s ended everything giving Warner the win collecting $481,698 and his very own WSOP bracelet.
