The two day WSOP $1,500 buy in Pot Limit Omaha tournament started on June 14th with 576 players entering the event, generating a total prize pool of $786,240 shared between the top 54 finishers with $194,206 set for 1st place. Only 23 players made it to the second day of play with some of the biggest names in poker looking to make the final table, after the much sought after WSOP bracelet. Scott Clements was leading the field in the chip rankings on $445,000 in chips when we eventually reached the final table, a sizable chip lead as his nearest competitor Dau Ly on $295,000. K.U. Davis was on the short stack $78,000.

Scott Clements made an excellent start strengthening is chip lead by eliminating two players in a three way pot against Anthony MacConnell and K.U. Davis. MacConnel made the first raise up to $21,000 which was called by both players. The Flop came down :qc :10h :8h which was followed by an All In move from Davis, both Clements and Davis called meaning Davis was All In as well.

Davis had :ad :jh :jd :10s

MacCanello had :ah :as :ks :4d

Clements had :ac :kd :9c :js

Clements was leading hitting a straight leaving the other two players needing to improve to survive. The :3c on the Turn and :qs on the River gave Clements the pot eliminating both players out of the tournament. Davis was eliminated in 9th winning $11,794 and MacCanello took $16,511 in 8th.

The table slowed down from this point onwards and it wasn’t until the 38th hand of the final table when we lost our next player. Andy Black on the short stack moved All In with his last $87,000 and was called by Will Durkee. Black flipped over :ks :kh :6s :4d against Durkee with :ah :as :ac :kc The board came down :10d :10c :9s :2c :qd giving Durkee the pot knocking Black out in 7th place taking home $22,408.

Mark davis was the next player to head for the rail on the 68th hand of play. Loosing against Dau Ly hitting quad tens on the Flop having two tens in his starting hand. Davis won $29,877 for his 6th place finish.

Ly eliminated the next player only a few hand later when short stacked Jason Newburger moved All In for his last $25,000. This bet was called by Ly and Durkee who both checked down to the River. Ly won the pot hitting trip Jacks with the board coming down :ac :as :jh :jc :4h Newburger left the tournament in 5th place winning $38,133.

Down to four players and the tournament was over with in half a dozen hands with players being eliminated in quick succession.

First Scott Clements hit a straight eliminating Durkee out in 4th place with Durkee only having two pair. Two hands later Clements knocked his nearest rival Dau Ly ,again hitting a straight on the turn with Ly having trip Queens.

Clements completed his win having 1.6million in chips against Eric Lynch on only $100,000. Lynch moved All In with :qc :7d :2s :2h against Clements with :kh :9h :9c :8c Clements hit a full house on the River with the board coming down :qd :4d :3h :3d :9d

Clements winning his second WSOP bracelet taking the $194,206 first place prize, dominating proceedings from the start of the day and didn’t look like letting this slip. A very good solid performance.
