The twenty fourth event of the World Series of Poker 2007 was a Limit Seven Card Stud Hi-Low event played over three days, with the final table played out on the third and final day. Eli Elezra headed a star studded final table on $303,000 in chips closely followed by Scotty Nguyen, one of the most well known poker players around, in second on $225,000. Marshall Ragir had some catching up to do on he short stack with only $28,000 in chips way adrift of the other players.

  • 1st Eli Elezra $303,000
  • 2nd Scotty Nguyen $255,000
  • 3rd George Hardie $182,000
  • 4th David Sklansky $171,000
  • 5th Dutch Boyd $170,000
  • 6th Thor Hansen $167,000
  • 7th John Harkness $141,000
  • 8th Marshall Ragir $28,000

Marshall Ragir was the first player to go, unable to make the much needed double up on his short stack. Ragir was All In on the fourth street against George Hardie. Ragir only made pocket Two’s by the final card which wasn’t enough to beat Hardie’s pocket Eights, leaving the tournament in 8th place winning $14,981.

The tables were turned on George Hardie when he was eliminated in 7th place loosing against Eli Elezra. Elezra had pocket Kings from the start against Hardie with pocket Tens. Neither player improved missing the low hand giving Elezra the pot.

Only two hands later Thor Hansen headed for the rail going out in a three way pot involving David Sklansky and Scotty Nguyen. Hansen was All In by the fifth street and both Nguyen and Sklansky checked down to the last card. Nguyen won the low hand with 7 low and Sklansky’s two pair Jacks and Tens beat Hansen’s two pair Nines and Fours, Hansen took home the $27,357 6th place prize.

It was Sklansky’s turn to go out of the tournament again in a three way pot with Scotty Nguyen and Eli Elezra. Sklansky was All In by the fourth street and both players checked down the cards to the showdown. Nguyen took the high pot with Two pair and Elezra won the low hand with 8 low. Sklansky mucked his cards leaving the tournament in 5th winning $35,835.

John Harkness was the next player to be eliminated when his pocket Aces were beaten by Eli Elezra with two pair Aces and Three’s extending his chip lead to $724,000 in chips. Harkness winning $47,224 for going out in 4th place.

It was long after this that Eli Elezra’s aggressive play knocked Dutch Boyd out of the tournament in 3rd place, beating pocket Sevens with pocket Kings with neither player improving.

Eli Elezra held a good chip advantage at the start of heads up play, but he was up against Scotty Nguyen who was most people favourite to win this final table. Elezra battled through though taking the win when hitting an Ace high straight on the final hand of play. Elezra winning his first WSOP bracelet and taking home the $198,984 prize money.
