Limit Razz was the game played at the 29th Event of the World Series of poker 2007, attracting over 300 players to enter. Some of the biggest names in poker was in attendance all looking to win the WSOP 2007 Razz bracelet. The event paid the top 32 finishers with 1st prize set to be $132,563. The first two days play would narrow the field to the final eight remaining players to battle out the win on the third and final day. O’Neil Longson was leading the field when we eventually reached the end of day two on $385,500 in chips. His nearest rival was Larry St Jean on $171,000 and the rest of the field was closely packed behind. The most notable finallist was Men “the master” Nguyen with work to do on the short stack with $35,000.Final Table Chip Standings:

  • 4th Katja Thater $117,500

The table started slowly with no one wanting to be the first to go out of the tournament, and it wasn’t until the 21st hand of play until this happened. Both short stacked players Men “the master” Nguyen and Thomas Daubert was All In against Katja Thater. Thater had :2d :5s :ks :9d :8h :7s :7d (nine high) Nguyen had :ad :2h :4c :9s :jd :10d :kh (10 high) and Daubert had :ah :8c :7c :8s :6h :9c :as Thater’s eight high was enough to take the pot eliminating both players out of the tournament. Daubert coming 8th winning $10,473 and Nguyen won $14,197 in 7th place.

Mark Vos was the next player to be eliminated, loosing with nine high against Paul Clark with eight high in a three way pot. Vos collected $18,386 for his 6th place finish.

Katja Thater eliminated Denny Axel not long after, her third victim on this final table. Thater’s eight high taking down the pot against Axel with nine high, going out of the tournament in 5th place taking home $24,204.

Thater proceeded to eliminate the next player out of the tournament taking the chip lead in the process. Thater ended up with ten high with her cards coming down :4c :7c :5d :qd :10s :2d :5d wining the pot against Paul Clark with King high :5c :6c :kd :7d :2s :ks :6s Clark going out in 4th place winning $31,186.

O’Neil Longson was the next player to go out of the tournament at the hands on Katja Thater. Longson’s Jack high was bettered by Thater’s Seven high and headed for the rail in 3rd place.

Katja Thater completed her dominance winning the heads up show down against Larry St Jean, the 7th player eliminated by her on this final table. The heads up show down lasted just over 40 hands with the final hand going to Thater winning with 8-5 high against St Jean with 8-7 high. Thater the deserved winner of this event taking the $132,653 first place prize and the WSOP bracelet.
