The $1,000 buy-in Seniors event was only open to players over the age of 50, this event was the 41st event to be held at the World series of Poker 2007. This event attracted almost 2000 players exceeding all expectations by the event organisers.
The final day of this three day event saw the completion of the final table with Ernest Bennett starting the day in the chip lead with just over 1 million in chips. There was three players all with under $150,000 in chips, all needing to make an early stand to have any chance of winning the WSOP bracelet and the $348,423 first place prize.

Charles Anderson was the first short stacked player to make a stand when moving All In under the gun with pocket Queens. This was called by Tony Korfman holding
and it as a coin toss situation with Anderson with a slender lead. Anderson held this lead right down to the Turn with the first four cards coming down
The River card though proved to be the killer card for Anderson with the
coming down giving Korfman the pot. Anderson eliminated in 9th place won $20,209.
Ray Abels made his move on the very next hand of play moving All In after picking up
Ernest Bennett called this bet holding pocket Sevens and it was another race to the finish. Neither player hit the board with it coming down
and the Sevens was good enough to win the pot. Abels collected $26,546 for his 8th place finish.
Jack Deutsch was the next short stacked player to go movig All In with
and found himself dominated up against Ed Smith calling with
The board came down
and Smith’s Ace high won the pot knocking Deutsch out in 7th place winning $35,965.
6th place went to Leon Lewis moving all In for $170,000 just after Ernest Bennett raised to $100,000 under the gun. Bennett called showing
and Lewis had
The Flop gave Bennett two pairs Aces and Sixes with it coming down
but Lewis had a chance with a gun shot straight draw. Neither player improved on the Turn or River with the final two cards coming down
and Lewis collected $47,953 in prize money.
Thomas Catanzaro was the next player to be knocked out of the event, when getting caught trying to bluff after the Flop came down

and this was good enough to win with the final two cards coming down
Only a few hand later Ed Smith headed for the rail, beaten by Ernest Bennett hitting a flush on the River card, easily beating Smith’s

Smith knocked out of the tournament in 4th place winning $95,907.
Rod Clarida was unlucky to go out in 3rd place when on the hand before his elimination, Tony Korfman split the pot when the board came down

eliminating Clarida out in 3rd place winning $142,147.
This was the last hand to be played in this event when Ernest Bennett and Tony Korfman decided to split the remaining prize money for an undisclosed amount. Ernest Bennett was officially given the win as he held more chips and collected the WSOP bracelet. This is the first time this has happened at this years WSOP.
