Caesar’s casino Indiana was the host of the latest World Series of Poker Circuit event staring on the 3rd November. 144 entrants started out the $5,000 buy-in No limit Hold’em main event to be played over three days. The total prize pool created was $688,400 with the first place prize set at $200,000 and a place in the WSOP circuit grand final.

Most of the well know circuit regulars started out the event, and when we got down to the final 9 players remaining on day Terry Ogle and Carlos Uz battling it out for top spot in the chip rankings on around $300,000 in chips, and Thomas Hover and Tom Schneider on the short stacks needing to make a good early start to the final table with just $40,000.

Final Table Chip Rankings:

  • 1st Terry Ogle $339,000
  • 2nd Carlos Uz $329,000
  • 3rd Chris Moore $239,500
  • 4th Vito Casullo $137,500
  • 5th Mark Fratter $115,500
  • 6th James Lindsay $74,000
  • 7th Chris Viox $67,500
  • 8th Thomas Hover $43,500
  • 9th Tom Schneider $42,500

Only a few hands in and Thomas Hover made a stand for his last $43,000 moving All In with :9c :8h He was called by both Carlos Uz and Vito Casullo and the Flop came down :3s :6h :10d Both Uz and Casullo checked and the :ah fell on the Turn. Casullo folded when Uz lead out with a $25,000 raise revealing :as :kh The :10h fell on the River handing Uz the large pot firmly putting him into the chip lead. Hover collected $13,768 finishing in 9th place.

Tom Schneider the 2007 WSOP player of the year and a bracelet winner at this years WSOP was the next player to go, lasting just over 20 hands on his short stack. He wasn’t able to pick up any pots in the first 20 hands of play, so was down to just £17,000 when he moved All In with pocket Eights. He had two callers in Casullo and Chris Moore and the Flop came down :7c :ac :qc Casullo bet $20,000 and revealed :ad :10c after Moore folded. Schneider looked certain to go having just one out to survive. Running Three’s on the Turn and River confirmed his exit winning $20,652 in 8th place.

James Lindsay had seen his chip stack reduced quite a lot, he picked up :as :kh and moved All In from the small blind. He was called by Uz with :ac :9c and Lindsay looked favorite to win the pot. This was until the Nine Uz needed fell on the Flop which was good enough to win the pot with the final board coming down :9h :7s :3s :10c :8s

Only a few hands later Chris Viox made a move from the small blind pushing All In with :qh :3h for $79,000 after two players had limped in. Terry Ogle folded but Uz decided to make the call with :ah :9d which won the pot with the final board showing :8s :kh :4s :js :6d Viox won $34,420 finishing in 6th place.

Play settled down after this hand and it took a while before the next elimination hand came about. Chris Moore ,Uz and Casullo all limped into the pot and the Flop came down :6h :9h :9d everyone checked the Flop and the Turn which was the :3d After the :kh fell on the River Moore raised the pot, Casullo folded and Uz re raised putting Moore All In. Moore had flopped Trip Nines with :qc :9s but was beaten by Uz holding :10h :2h hitting a flush. Moore left the event taking home $41,304 in 5th place.

On the very next hand of play we lost another player when Terry Ogle raised pre flop and was called by Marc Fretter and Casullo. The Flop came down :2s :6c :8d Fretter made the first bet and Ogle moved All In, Casullo folded and Fretter called. Fretter was holding pocket Deuces having a set and Ogle had :2d :8h having two pair. The Eight Ogle needed didn’t come on the Turn or River, leaving him to go out of the tournament in 4th place.

After half an hour playing three handed we were down to two players. Casullo was unlucky to go out with pocket Nines against :as :8d It was looking likely Casullo was going to double up with the first four cards coming down :10s :qh :10c :8c having a higher two pair than Fretter but the :qd on the river meant Fretter’s Ace kicker won him the pot.

Both Uz and Fretter had practically equal chip stacks so they decided to split the money and play for the bracelet, the title and the seat at the WSOP final. Uz won this battle when both players moved All In and Fretter mucked as soon as the Flop came down :kd :qd :7d it was decided that Fretter took the $10,000 seat at the main event the $1,000 spending money and $165,034 in prize money. Uz took $175,000 and the WSOP circuit ring.

Final Standings:
