WSOP 2008 Event 24 - $2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em / Omaha

The $2,500 mixed pot limit hold’em / omaha event attracted 457 players starting out, all fighting for the $246,471 first place prize on offer. The total prize pool reached $1,142,500 which was shared between the last 45 players left standing.
Just 85 players made it to day two with Stephen McKinney leading the field on $92,500 in chips. Stephen couldn’t hold on to his chips in the 14 hours of play, on day two going out before the final table positions was confirmed. Kyle Kloeckner was leading the field on $494,000 just ahead of Allen Cunningham on $484,000, Cunningham was looking for his sixth career WSOP bracelet.

Short Stacked John-Paul Kelly was the first to go making a stand when picking up
Chip leader Kyle Kloeckner made the call having
holding the advantage. Kloeckner’s advantage became even greater as the Flop produced an Ace and Kelly was drawing dead with the Turn being no help.
Minh Ly was to have as much luck as Kelly as he was out shortly after. He was first crippled by Depa with pocket Jacks against
Depa paired a King on the Flop which doubled him up off the short stack. Ly moved All In on the next hand with
Cunningham called with
and Kyle Hegeman had
Nobody hit any piece of the flop and Hegeman’s Queen kicker won him the pot.
Jonathan Depa’s tournament came to an end at this point. He lost the majority of his chips to Allen Cunningham after Cunningham rivered a lucky straight. This left Depa with just a few chips left and he pushed All In with
Max Pescatori made the call with
and won the pot pairing his Jack on the Flop.
Kyle Hegeman took fifth place whilst playing Omaha, the first elimination on this final table playing this game. Hegeman Max Pescatori and Kyle Kloeckner all were involved and saw a flop of
Hegeman moved All In Pescatori folded and Kloeckner called. Hegeman had
having top pair and Kloeckner had

Pescatori held a big chip lead going into heads up against Kloeckner and put this to good use winning the tournament very quickly. Pescatori hit two pair on a Flop showing
when playing Omaha. Kloeckner only had pocket Tens and didn’t improve to take second place. This was Pescatori’s second WSOP bracelet win and he added $246,471 to his bank roll.
