Weekend
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 | Alan Merriman
This weekend saw a few changes to the regular big poker tournaments. PokerStars hosted its usual Sunday Million tourney which was won by Dan “ziggy47” Bokesch. The full tilt weekend tourney however was cancelled in favour of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series Event No. 10. Last but not least Bodog upped its tournament prize from $100,000 to a $250,000 guaranteed event but unfortunately ended up paying double the overlay!
PokerStars Sunday Million
This week’s exciting PokerStars Sunday Million saw ziggy47 defeating his rivals and winning the big money. Dan ‘ziggy47’ Bokesch made the tournament even more exciting with his unexpected win. He played for more than ten hours, finally taking the prize of $199,475 away from rival Daniel ‘puntnko’ Kochan and pros like Scott Fischman and Scott Clements. Daniel Bokesch, also known as BOKE, and Daniel Kochan (who won $134,246) were followed by j.thaddeus who won $91,419 in third place.

Full Tilt Online Poker Series Event No. 10
This week, with the Full Tilt Online Poker Series or FTOPS going on, the usual Sunday game that poker fans look forward to was replaced by the Full Tilt Online Poker Series Event No. 10, the most important of three such events that replace the $750,000 Guarantee Tournament. There were certainly no regrets – the FTOPS event offered plenty of thrills. This was a $300 buy-in game, and host Eric Seidel did a great job of managing the close to five thousand participants. Response was on the slow side – the addition of just fifteen more players would have reached the guarantee figure of $1.5 million.
Those who did participate, though, were closely involved in the game for several hours, eyes fixed on the hefty sum of $259,440 offered to the winner. The hero of the day was Harlindo, who challenged well known poker players such as Steve ‘Mr. Smokey1’ Billirakis, Josh Arieh, who is now a Full Tilt pro, Luke ‘IWEARGOGGLES’ Staudenmaier and James ‘POKERPRO’ Campbell. Campbell, Staudenmaier, Arieh and Billirakis made it to the Top 60, with Arieh in twenty fifth spot and Campbell in second. And Harlindo walks away with a cool quarter of a million dollars with his first win at the Full Tilt Online Poker Series.
The final results:
- Harlindo — $259,440
- James “P0KERPR0” Campbell — $157,500
- doubledave22 — $102,000
- SKILLAN — $79,500
- Mr Mack Bust — $60,000
- paigowpro — $45,000
- Tazmaniapwnsyou — $34,500
- IwanaClay — $26,250
- Kasy1 — $19,500
Bodog $250,000 Guaranteed
The Bodog tournament this week was made more interesting with a hefty guarantee of $250,000, although the overlay percentage (overlay was $46,000 this week) didn’t change much with 816 players coming in on the $250 buy-in. Excellent poker players like Mark ‘dipthrong’ Herm and jobless23 were ousted from the top place by KILL_BILL, who took $56,600 home. jobless23, DrDankRx23 and Herm, in second, third and fourth place, took home prizes of $31,400, $21,750 and $16,875 respectively.
The final results:
- KILL_BILL — $56,600
- jobless23 — $31,400

- Mark “dipthrong” Herm — $16,875
- Hongboy — $13,625
- CrewRepresent — $10,500
- Hunterace — $7,750
- StonecoldMS — $5,250
- TakeEMOut — $3,000
