Weekend Online Poker Round Up 24th Aug 2008

Wednesday, August 27, 2008 | Alan Merriman

There was a good turnout at the Sunday poker tournaments this week with 7,557 entrants generating a prize pool of $1,511,400.  This was paid out to the top 1,080 finishers in the Pokerstars Sunday Million $200+15, 3,752 entrants and $750,400 paid out to 522 spots in the Full Tilt Poker $750K Guaranteed $200+16 and 656 entrants and $100,000 paid out to 90 spots in the Bodog $100k Guaranteed $100+9.

PokerStars Sunday Million

As usual, PokerStars beat the Sunday Million guarantee this week, with 7557 players and a prize pool of 1,511,400. This last Sunday, it was NFrost_10 who walked away with a cool $170,900.91 at the end of the tournament, taking the first prize place away from es_dame and several other relatively unknown poker players. When the game came down to these two players, they agreed on a division of the money, each taking $140,900.91 and competent for the balance of $30,000. N_Frost didn’t take long to turn a slight chip lead into a win during heads up play, and was declared the winner at the final table of the Pokerstars Sunday Million. N_Frost

An interesting innovation this time was the introduction of the new live blog on PokerStars, which reports the live action at the Sunday Million tournament. So now you can keep track of exactly what is going on as the tournament unfolds.

The final results:

  • **NFrost_10 — $170,901
  • **es_dame — $140,901
  • karelli — $84,638
  • Duffs#1fan — $69,524
  • SonnyInMtl — $54,410
  • lecharentais — $39,296
  • kidkanda99 — $26,450
  • hidden1s — $17,381
  • afiopeneyes2 — $10,580

**A deal was made between the last two players at the table.

Full Tilt $750 K Guaranteed

This week, the guarantee was just about met at the full tilt $750,000 guaranteed Tournament on Sunday. 3752 entrants, including 32 ‘Red Pro’ players from Full Tilt turned out for this event. But poker pros David Pham, Josh Arieh, David Benyamine, Ram Vaswani and Ryan Daut were all ousted, and heads up play came down to 6speed and ship hamilton, with the latter prevailing to win the $132,858.32 first place prize. ship hamilton has been doing well on Full Tilt poker recently – he has made more than $150,000.

The final results:

  • ship hamilton — $132,858
  • 6speed — $80,293
  • Terry “Asiandude7” Eischens — $52,528
  • hallebeary — $41,422
  • WhoAteMyShorts — $31,067
  • ChAzZz18 — $23,037
  • Ronaldinho — $17,259
  • TollBoothBandit — $13,507
  • Carl Bildt — $10,055

Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed

Not very many players turned up for Bodog’s weekly $100 K Guaranteed Tournament this Sunday. Big overlays have been a recent trend on Bodog, and there are rarely more than 700 players. This week there were only 656, which left Bodog with an overlay of $34,400. Marshall “balla686″ Trauernicht has been earning good money on Bodog – in May, he won a $15,000 guarantee tournament. Now he has topped that by winning the Bodog $100 K Guarantee and nabbing the prize of $23,600.

The final results:

  • Balla686 — $23,600
  • spilsner — $13,600
  • syzygy3732 — $9,100
  • Wade “soggyvag2” Woelfel — $7,000
  • Ugotdonedirty — $5,700
  • TimKansas — $4,500
  • TripleNet — $3,300
  • Hapa Haoli — $2,200
  • Mario “PwnasaurusX” Silvestri — $1,300
