Bodog poker had a good week when it hosted a different poker tournament, the Bodog Poker Open II Event No. 2, with a much smaller grantee. It didn’t have to pay any overlay and got a good crowd of players to its tables. PokerStars had a bit of a rough time with its $1.5million guaranteed event soon after the poker championships it hosted, as did Full Tilt poker. Both sites ended up paying overlays to compensate for the loss in player traffic.
PokerStars Sunday Million
PokerStars ran out of luck this weekend after it finished its rounds of exciting tourneys for the World Championship of Online Poker which ended last week. Although the championship tourneys enjoyed great success, the Sunday million dropped in popularity and managed to secure 7,133 entrants. The player traffic was unfortunately insufficient to meet the guarantee and PokerStars had to cough up a generous overlay of $73,400.
The competition at the final table was tough and the final three were Tuffy Cat, londanuk and AceBonG. Londanuk dropped out soon and took home a total of $84,000 in winnings. Eventually Tuffy Cat and AceBonG were left to duke it out among themselves and although there was the possibility of a deal being made, both players decided not to go in for it and fought it out till the end. Tuffy Cat took the winnings and first place in the end going home almost $60,000 richer than his opponent.
The final results:
- Tuffy Cat — $184,500
- AceBonG — $124,950
- londanuk — $84,000
- SantiagoRain — $69,000

Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed

Bodog Poker Open II Event No. 2
Bodog did not have its usual tournament this week and instead went ahead and hosted the second event of the Bodog Poker Open II. This was the first event to be played with a guaranteed poker pot prize. The guarantee was not much and only amounted to $30,000, but took in a total of 181 participants at a buy-in of $200 each.
Eventually, the prize pool worked up to more than the guarantee and Bodog did not have to make any overlay for once. The poker pool amounted to a total of $36,200, leaving a sum of $10,000 or so for the first place winner. The final showdown worked TheHesse and selachii777 to a sweat as they competed for the first place. Eventually, TheHesse proved to be the better player and took home the grand prize of $9,955.
The final results:
- TheHesse — $9,955
- selachii777 — $6,335
- good82 — $4,199
