Weekend Online Poker Round Up 6th July: Lucky Players and Overlays

Wednesday, July 9, 2008 | Francis Lee

This Sunday proved to be one of the best for Poker Stars as the Sunday Million event took in massive amount of players and overall had a great show. However, things were not as rosy for the folks at Full Tilt and Bodog as both sites had to lay out some heavy overlays which seem to have become a weekly trend with them. Hopefully, next week may see things picking up.

Poker Stars Sunday Million

The Sunday Million tournament at Poker Stars pulled in some good player traffic over the weekend, taking around 7,131 players. The prize pool worked its way up to a hefty sum of $1,426,200 and made for a handsome payout for the first place winner, who would walk away with more than $177,000.

In addition to the heavy turnout, the players themselves were big names in the online poker circle. Among the contenders for the Poker Stars Sunday Million was Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh who had quite a success at this year’s World Series of Poker.

Eventually the finalists, BadBeatKid_2, PokerSavage1, and racin77db, made a three-way chop and BadBeatKid_2 won the $175,000 pot.

The final results:

  • **BadBeatKid_2 — $175,000
  • **PokerSavage1 — $103,000
  • **racin77db — $100,370
  • dynoalot — $66,318
  • GravityPilot — $52,056
  • etushekki — $37,794
  • MyMaria44 — $25,672
  • Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh — $17,114
  • Oderec25 — $11,124

** This reflects a three-way chop between the three final players with 30,000 left for the eventual winner as per Poker Stars rules.

Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed

Full Tilt seems to have been on a roll when it comes to overlays, having had to pool in the extra money to make its guaranteed event at the weekend. This is the tenth week in a row that the Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed has had to make an overlay.

The Sunday tourney roped in a total of 3,644 participants which did not quite cut it and Full Tilt had to contribute the $21,200 to make up the pot. This made for a great poker prize especially since Full Tilt does not allow players to split the pot. The eventual winner would walk away $132,788 richer and the second place player would take in $80,000 or more. Anthony “holdplz” Spinella and jibossh made it to the final showdown and Anthony “holdplz” Spinella turned out to be the last man standing.

The final results:

  • Anthony “holdplz” Spinella — $132,788
  • jibossh — $80,250
  • Belig — $52,500
  • fratboy247 — $41,400
  • kasper74 — $31,050
  • Brian “SN8WMAN” Hawkins— $23,025
  • wmmcl — $17,250
  • jtd24 — $13,500
  • ohjay310 — $10,050

Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed

Bodog’s Sunday tourney saw an improvement in attendance this week, although it still had to chalk out the usual weekly overlay which amounted to $27,200. The Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed pulled in 728 entrants on Sunday night and with the overlay, the players ended up getting a $137 buy-in for just $100 - so even the losers had some consolation that way.

There was however some good competition when two Bodog veterans battled it out for the $23,600 prize. Eventually Pkb6786, who has a prior record of getting to the final table three time sin a row hit home and triumphed over Dartanian. Pkb6786 made a great win at the table a he took home not only the first place but also the top prize.

The final results:

  • pkb6786 — $23,600
  • Dartanian — $13,600
  • Zieg30 — $9,100
  • denlm — $7,000
  • Whitey03 — $5,700
  • sanzard — $4,500
  • ryder_back — $3,300
  • yuengling — $2,200
  • dinoucla— $1,300

Take your seat at one of the regular big weekend tournaments by signing up at Pokerstars , Full Tilt Poker or Bodog and you could be the one winning big money next week. Regular satellites run to these tournaments, so you can also win your seat for as little as a few dollars.
