Weekend

This week the PokerStars Sunday Million tourney saw a drop in player traffic and so did the Sunday tournament at Bodog. The Pokerstars Sunday Million lost over 150 players and Bodog lost about a hundred or so.
One cannot help but wonder if this weekly drop in entrants marks some kind of trend in online poker tournaments but in reality it is more likely that people are just taking some time off this week in preparation for the massive poker season about to hit us with the World Series of Poker coming up in June.
PokerStars Sunday Million
The Sunday tournament at PokerStars this week was a sad one, as the tourney traffic dropped by a total of about 150 players. The site was able to pull in only 6,856 participants in comparison to last weeks 7,001 entrants which was already a low number.
The tournament worked up a prize pool of $1,371,200 and put $193,339 on line as a first place prize. Although the tournament was hit by a number of stars and poker professionals this week - many of whom got quite deep - the tournament was not as much a success as it usually is.
Some of the poker stars to participate included Nick “agriffrod” Mitchell, Andy “BKiCe” Seth, Nath “Cap’nJackpot” Pizzolatto, Darren “DABADESTCHIC” Nelson and Joe “BigEgypt” Elpayaa.
However, it was PKerBL who emerged as winner while HelmetSky and AQUA RAIDER came in third and second respectively.
The final results:
- 1. PKerBL — $193,339
- 2. AQUA RAIDER — $97,355
- 3. Snitch24 — $68,560
- 4. FeFranco — $54,848
- 5. Ollowain — $41,136
- 6. jp4est — $30,166
- 7. roniirani — $21,254
- 8. Talgamer13 — $12,341
- 9. HelmetSky — $8,090
Full Tilt $250,000 Guaranteed
This was the eighth event in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) VIII series and pulled in a total of 512 entrants who all bought in for $500 a piece. This created a prize pool of $256,000 and no overlay was required. This was a strong no-limit hold’em event.
Boondy, GoToChurch and Zuleh were the three finalists, but Zuleh dropped out soon after and was followed by Boondy. Ironically it was GoToChurch who won the Sunday tournament (even though he was playing poker on Sunday!).
The final results:
- 1. GoToChurch - $51,200
- 2. Boondy - $29,952
- 3. Zuleh - $16,000
- 4. kiwid10 - $16,000
- 5. grunter321- $8,320
- 6. kenny05 - $8,320
- 7. padirk165 - $8,320
- 8. Jackal78 - $8,320
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
Even Bodog showed a dip in player traffic when attendance fell from the 765 of last week to a smaller 646 number of players. The players put up a good fight but could not stand up against the onslaught of BadReception and mattboom. V00D00CHILE was the second runner up and took home a total of $9,100.
BadReception and mattboom were the last two left standing and they battled until mattboom came out on top of the heads up and took home the top prize money of $23,600, getting an extra $10K for coming in first.
The final results:
- 1. mattboom — $23,600
- 2. BadReception — $13,600
- 3. V00D00CHILE — $9,100
- 4. rusostreet — $7,000
- 5. any2willdo4me — $5,700
- 6. Frank “slowrollinworm” Hernandez (pictured right) — $4,500
- 7. wildcrazyjohnny — $3,300
- 8. bg20mu — $2,200
- 9. MNEMIC_UK — $1,300
Take your seat at one of the regular big weekend tournaments by signing up at Pokerstars , Full Tilt Poker or Bodog and you could be the one winning big money next week. Regular satellites run to these tournaments, so you can also win your seat for as little as a few dollars.
