poker tournaments

This week the Sunday Million tournaments of PokerStars and Full Tilt took a break to give way for their massive WSOP (World Series of Poker) qualifying tournaments.

The turnout in the World Series qualifiers was tremendous with 8,076 entrants turning up for the PokerStars qualifier as compared to the number of around 7,000 that is the standard for the Sunday Million. This meant that 226 players had a chance of winning the sought after main event seat and also get $2,000 for travel related expenses worth a total of $12,000 per package. Also, the qualifier rounds had buy-ins of around $350 whereas the Sunday Million usually has a buy-in of only $250.

On the other hand, Full Tilt’s qualifier required an overlay of $107,500 due to the fact that the number of entrants was 3,385 as compared to the 3,600 required to cover the guarantee. These qualifier tourneys meant that the PokerStars and Full Tilt took a back seat this weekend. Thus the cash prize action was centered on the Bodog $100,000 guaranteed.

Bodog $100,000 guaranteed

If you were playing poker at Bodog and wanted to make some good money, there was never a better time to try your hand at Bodog than last weekend. They were offering players who have 2000 or more poker points per month to double their cash rewards with a double point’s bonus. This offer is for a limited time only and there were many players who made use of it on Sunday.

For those who are interested and want to use this offer next week, here is how you do it. Players will first have to earn 2000 or more poker points in the course of a month. Then at the end of the month, they get a double point’s bonus deposited into their accounts as a bonus. They can then use these points at Bodog poker points tournaments or convert them into cash.

Players could earn Bodog poker points in the following ways:

  • A rake of the pot of $1 - $3 earns you 1 point
  • A rake of the pot of $.50 - $.95 earns you .5 point
  • A rake of the pot of $.25 - $.45 earns you .25 point
  • A rake of the pot of $.05 - $.20 earns you .10 point

There are even points for every one hour of play and you can also earn 3 poker points for every dollar in tournament fees.

This week’s Bodog’s guarantee had 621 entrants that meant that Bodog had to cover up an astounding $37,900 to match the guarantee that was more than the first and second places combined. This meant that the players in this week’s buy-in paid $100 for an equivalent entry value of $161 event.

The final came down to a face-off between Jeff “HB_HITMAN” Anderson and wolf8476. The latter survived the course to become richer by $23,600 making it a great weekend for wolf8476.

The final results:

  1. 1. wolf8476 — $23,600
  2. 2. Jeff “HB_HITMAN” Anderson — $13,600
  3. 3. FLA_HAWKEYE — $9,100
  4. 4. pkb6786 — $7,000
  5. 5. ismkjays420 — $5,700
  6. 6. tuzogirl — $4,500
  7. 7. dcm26126 — $3,300
  8. 8. crackin_ty — $2,200
  9. 9. Al “alcarmo” Carmo — $1,300

Take your seat at one of the regular big weekend tournaments by signing up at Pokerstars , Full Tilt Poker or Bodog and you could be the one winning big money next week. Regular satellites run to these tournaments, so you can also win your seat for as little as a few dollars.
