online tournament roundup

It’s been a busy weekend for the Sunday Poker Tournaments, with some big winners walking away with hefty prizes. The poker player traffic picked up quite a bit at the PokerStars Sunday Million weekend tournament which is a good sign for the poker site.

The Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed hosted during the weekend was a good tournament for the winners but not for Full Tilt that once again had to cough up yet another overlay. Bodog paid its weekly overlay as usual but did have an increased number of entrants.

PokerStars Sunday Million

There were plenty of contestants in the Pokerstars Sunday Million tournament last weekend – a healthy figure of 6,747. With the number of participants competing for a total prize amount of $1,349,400, the winner in first place was likely to get a sum of $160,000 if no deal was made at the final table.

Professional Soren “Kongsgaard” Kongsgaard made the final table at the PokerStars Sunday Million recently and Kongsgaard was able to do this last year as well, in February, but came in fourth in the final tourney. This year, Kongsgaard defeated seven rivals and came head to head with swishes2000. He fought hard, finally winning, which has made him one of the top hundred players in the Card Player Online Player of the Year (OPOY) competition. The results at the end of the PokerStars Sunday Million were as follows.
The final results:

  1. 1. Soren “Kongsgaard” Kongsgaard — $158,555
  2. 2. swishes2000 — $105,928
  3. 3. flylice — $74,217
  4. 4. Terken89 — $60,723
  5. 5. zman2224 — $47,229
  6. 6. gyndok — $33,735
  7. 7. Wizard0f0dd5 — $23,615
  8. 8. farquad72 — $15,518
  9. 9. Djorgo — $10,525

Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed

For the seventh successive week, there was an overlay at the Full Tilt $750,000 guarantee. With 3,500 participants in the contest, the guarantee amount was not reached, so Full Tilt had to add $50,000 to reach the guaranteed prize pool.

The game at the final table was interesting, and Jason “Jcarver” Somerville and th_IN_kB4Urail were heads up at the end. The latter hung in there longer than his final rival and earned a generous $133,000 for his win.

The final results:

  1. 1. th_IN_kB4Urail — $132,788
  2. 2. Jason “Jcarver” Somerville — $80,250
  3. 3. Bucovinas — $52,500
  4. 4. Anna Rexic — $41,400
  5. 5. JohnnyGstaks — $31,050
  6. 6. Mike “SirWatts” Watson — $23,025
  7. 7. billytk01 — $17,250
  8. 8. DeuceBuster — $13,500
  9. 9. MarkFSU1 — $10,050

Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed

Bodog had poor attendance at the $100,000 Guarantee event last weekend, and had to pay out an overlay of $29,800 to meet the $100,000 guarantee. Even the fist prize was not as high as the overlay! This week there was a very slight improvement with 702 contestants, barely more than the previous week’s 698 participants.

Rmobley65 was at the final table last week and pulled the same feat off again this week. He came head to head with big Benton, and prevailed against Benton to win $23,600, his first success in the Bodog $100,000 Guarantee.

The final results:

  1. 1. rmobley65 — $23,600
  2. 2. big benton — $13,600
  3. 3. alykat — $9,100
  4. 4. GreedyGDK — $7,000
  5. 5. El Savaje — $5,700
  6. 6. Andy “BKiCe” Seth — $4,500
  7. 7. PhxG — $3,300
  8. 8. dwtreman74 — $2,200
  9. 9. hammy85 — $1,300

Take your seat at one of the regular big weekend tournaments by signing up at Pokerstars , Full Tilt Poker or Bodog and you could be the one winning big money next week. Regular satellites run to these tournaments, so you can also win your seat for as little as a few dollars.
