The weekend tournaments had some surprise winners this time around. Though the number of entrants was lower than expected in all the three tournaments forcing the organizers to put in overlays, nonetheless, it was good for the players as they got some good value tournaments. While KipsterDK won the PokerStars Sunday Million, Matthew Hilger won the FullTilt prize making it a grand weekend for these two at least!

PokerStars Sunday Million

The larger than normal $500 buy-in Sunday Million this week had fewer entrants than last week but generated a bigger prize pool. The tournament attracted 3,119 players which ensured prize money of $1,559,500. The first prize came out at $272,000. A deal was struck living up to the expectations from this Sunday tournament. Eventually all the five final participants agreed to split the pot. This was very unusual and meant that all five had six figure pay checks guaranteed.

Tshooter1970 who had the most when the deal was made dropped out and settled for third place for a win of $143,000. The table was clear for Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin and KipsterDK to battle it out for the winners title and the extra $30k that has to be left for the winner from any deal as per PokerStars rules. Plattsburgh gave in to KipsterDK, taking home prize money of $133,000 that was guaranteed. KipsterDK won the event and $150,000.

The final results:

  1. 1. **KipsterDK — $149,861
  2. 2. **Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin — $133,397
  3. 3. **tshooter1970 — $143,314
  4. 4. **futilewar — $108,479
  5. 5. **pearljam1012 — $112,297
  6. 6. iamhiv — $45,226
  7. 7. caicu — $32,750
  8. 8. jmmeijer — $20,585
  9. 9. DCal Zone — $12,164

**This was a five-way split made between all the final five players!

Full Tilt $750,000

For the third week running, the FullTilt $750,000 tournament saw an overlay with 3,626 players who turned up this weekend. The tournament usually needs about 3,750 participants to make up the pot, without which the tournament needs an overlay. So, FullTilt had to pay $24,800 to make the weekly guarantee.
Matthew “ionlyplayAA” Hilger made it from the total of 3,626 players to head off against PedjaMN. Hilger took down the final prize money of around $133,000 and claimed the first place.

The final results:

  1. 1. Matthew “ionlyplayAA” Hilger — $132,788
  2. 2. PedjaMN — $80,250
  3. 3. UBENICE — $52,500
  4. 4. zelong — $41,400
  5. 5. Nocturnick — $31,050

  7. 7. bozbosjes — $17,250
  8. 8. Draigan1 — $13,500
  9. 9. aabeware — $10,050

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

As with the other two tournaments, Bodog also had to put in an overlay of over $32,500 as it had only 675 participants this week, falling short by over 325 entrants. This meant that the players were vying for a $148 buy-in while paying just $100. The overlay was nearly a third of the total prize money.

The players who stood to gain the most from this $48 cut were Derek “Body Man D” Wark and Daman04, who fought it out in the final round. Eventually Daman04 took down his opponent and walked away with the prize money of $25,000.

The final results:

  1. 1. Daman04 — $25,000
  2. 2. Derek “Body Man D” Wark — $14,300
  3. 3. e4 — $9,200
  4. 4. I GOAT FU — $6,900

  7. 7. Tony “muckanut” Dunst (aka Bond18) — $3,500
  8. 8. goodvibe — $2,500
  9. 9. The Destroyer — $1,600
