online poker tournaments

This Sunday saw an amazing achievement by online player Supadaphat making the final table in both the PokerStars Sunday Million as well as the Full Tilt $750k guaranteed to take home substantial prize money as part of his weekend play.

PokerStars Sunday Million

The event had 6,521 entrants this week up from the number last week’s count of 6,382. This meant that the prize money was $162,000 up from the $1,276,400 that was put up for the players last week. But the attendance was still the second lowest since February this year.

There was a good representation of the Internet players in the final table with all the three players’ supadphat, jalla79, and GoMukYaSelf having significant online presence. This bears testimony to the increasing popularity of online poker and more and more players from the online format dominating the traditional format.

The three finalists agreed on a three way chop and according to PokerStars policy, $30,000 was left on the table for the eventual winner. This meant that the three finalists were guaranteed $105,000 in winnings and all of them were making a bid for $135,000 as the final tally. Not a bad six figure pay for a weekend!

Jalla79 was the first to be knocked off and it was left to supadphat and GoMukYaSelf to face down each other. Supadaphat could not force the pace and it was left to GoMukYaSelf to collect the eventual winning of $135,000.

The final results:

  1. 1. **GoMukYaSelf — $135,335
  2. 2. **supadphat (aka phatchoy888) — $105,335
  3. 3. **jalla79 — $105,335
  4. 4. central106 — $60,645
  5. 5. PokerED — $47,603
  6. 6. Daryl “aaaaaaa” Jace — $34,561
  7. 7. KtheKing — $23,476
  8. 8. Billy “Patrolman35” Kopp — $15,650
  9. 9. “Dumping”KGB (aka PXFACTOR) — $10,173

** reflects a three way split made at the final table. And as per the PokerStars policy $30,000 was left on the table for the final winner.

FullTilt $750,000 guaranteed

This week’s edition required an overlay as well as there were 3,566 entrants and this was the ninth time in a row that the event required an overlay. The silver lining was that this week’s overlay of $36,800 was better than the week before which had required an overlay of $59,000. The interesting fact was that the winner was guaranteed to take home $133,000 that was almost as much as that of the PokerStars Sunday Million. And considering the fact that Supadaphat featured in both the final tables, it turned out that he won a combined amount of $238,123.

The final results:

  1. 1. phatchoy888 (aka supadphat) — $132,788
  2. 2. Garrett “GBecks” Beckman — $80,250
  3. 3. Roekiks — $52,500
  4. 4. Doc Sands — $41,400
  5. 5. TheMasterJ33 — $31,050
  6. 6. Adam “adamoos” Elpayaa — $23,025
  7. 7. Bashful101 — $17,250
  8. 8. herdgolf86 — $13,500
  9. 9. vandAAgnog — $10,050

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

This week’s edition saw 703 entrants bearing pointers to the fact that the tournament is holding on to the 700’s in terms of number of participants. Thus there was an overlay of $29,700 which was more than the first prize money of $23,600. Considering the fact that the tournament is a $100 buy-in, it was a neat for the players to play in what turned out to be a $142 buy-in effectively.

The final results:

  1. 1. floppedout — $23,600
  2. 2. Adrian “pokerarg” Gavile — $13,600
  3. 3. king silas — $9,100
  4. 4. moonman25 — $7,000
  5. 5. vasctrainer — $5,700
  6. 6. thedude81 — $4,500
  7. 7. Riverdancer37 — $3,300
  8. 8. tehdow — $2,200
  9. 9. McNair0938 — $1,300
