weekend poker tournaments

This weekend had a lot of ups and downs for many poker sites. While the PokerStars Sunday Million tournament had a very average number of entrants, Bodog showed a strong increase in traffic and even brought in some great poker players.

However, the Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed had some bad luck and had to churn out a lot of the green to make up for poor attendance.

PokerStars Sunday Million

Sunday at the PokerStars big weekend tournament was neither spectacular nor abysmal. Although player traffic fell in comparison to the previous weeks, it still pulled in a total of 7,001 entrants, losing about 175 players in course of two weeks when the tourney raked in around 7,176 entrants.

The buy –in went back to the normal price of $200 and this generated a prize pool of $1,400,200. The final showdown was between Ben “ShankingYou” Palmer and Iron Henry, who decided not to risk the ups and downs of heads up play and agreed to a split of the pot, each taking $133,421 each. As per Pokerstars rules $30,000 was left on the table to play for and Iron Henry was soon the last man standing and won the heads up battle taking home $163,421.

The final results:

  1. 1. **Iron Henry — $163,421
  2. 2. **Ben “ShankingYou” Palmer — $133,421
  3. 3. hobbybob — $70,010
  4. 4. etushekki — $56,008
  5. 5. jlost88 — $42,006
  6. 6. Duffman08 — $30,804
  7. 7. fiddski — $21,703
  8. 8. redhookesb — $12,602
  9. 9. ROCKHOUND23 — $8,261

** This was a two way chop between the final two contestants. $30,000 remained for the winner’s prize.

Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed

This was bad week for the Full Tilt $750,000 guaranteed tournaments as it had one of it slowest ever turnouts! Only 3,546 players participated in the tournament and Full tilt had to cover an overlay of $40,800 to make up their $750,000 guarantee.

However, both LIAandTONYsDAD and billytk01 went home happy as they were the two finalists of the evening. billytk01 won the event and took home the 1st place prize money worth $132,788 while LIAandTONYsDAD took in the second place with a smaller win of $80,250.

The final results:

  1. 1. billytk01 — $132,788
  2. 2. LIAandTONYsDAD — $80,250
  3. 3. TheAsianVampire — $52,500
  4. 4. gawyn — $41,400
  5. 5. Outkicked — $31,050

  7. 7. GUNssoooon — $17,250
  8. 8. domer79 — $13,500
  9. 9. IKeepYouHonest — $10,050

Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed

Compared to the PokerStars Sunday Million which had a drop in the number of entrants and the Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed which had one of the lowest nights ever in terms of player traffic, the Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed hit a good week and took in 765 participants growing from last weeks 675.

However, as usual Bodog still had to fund the shortfall on the guarantee adding $23,500 as an overlay.

In addition to increased turnout, Bodog also attracted some well known stars to this weeks tournament - poker stars that is – as a number of well known poker players sat in at the table and vied for the prize. The final line up was between Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin, Marchant “CobaltBlue” Davenport, and fackinamazin.

Fackinamazin did not make it to the heads up and quickly fell away; letting the other two vie for the big prize. Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin struck gold that night and won the first place prize of $23,600.

The final results:

  1. 1. Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin — $23,600
  2. 2. Marchant “CobaltBlue” Davenport — $13,600
  3. 3. fackinamazin — $9,100
  4. 4. Brent “Astrolux85” Roberts — $7,000
  5. 5. Jeff “HB_HITMAN” Anderson — $5,700
  6. 6. Rataveli — $4,500
  7. 7. MrPVol — $3,300
  8. 8. WillieHop — $2,200
  9. 9. eagleseye3 — $1,300

Take your seat at one of the regular big weekend tournaments by signing up at Pokerstars , Full Tilt Poker or Bodog and you could be the one winning big money next week. Regular satellites run to these tournaments, so you can also win your seat for as little as a few dollars.
