Weekend
Wednesday, May 21, 2008 | Adrian Milewski
This weekend turned out to be better than last week for all three online poker sites. Pokerstars saw an increase in player traffic and Bodog pulled in a little hike in participants although it still had to pay to cover the $100,000 guarantee.
Full Tilt ran a massive tournament this weekend with a massive $2 million guaranteed as prize money. This was not the usual poker weekend for the site but the main event of Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) VIII. Full Tilt managed to make the success list this weekend where the prize pool was concerned as it did not have to contribute any amount to make the guarantee as the number of participants and their buy–ins more than covered it!
Full Tilt FTOPS Main Event - $2million guaranteed
This was a big hit at Full Tilt Poker and the $2 million guaranteed tournament raked in a surprising 4,750 contestants at a $500 buy-in each. This filled up the prize pool to a whopping $2,375,000, resulting in Full Tilt not having to contribute anything but their name to the event.
The tournament attracted many professionals and big names in the industry. Some of Full Tilt’s own representatives such as Huck Seed, Robert Mizrachi, Stuart Paterson, Maciek “Michael” Gracz, Andy Bloch Roland de Wolfe, and Marco Liesy all from Team Full Tilt were there as well.
However the finalist were cheesemonster (aka delegator) and MarMoss and they had to play it out to the end as a chop is against the sites policy. Eventually cheesemonster proved to be more than a match for his opponent and took home the victory and a huge $410,780 in prize money.
The final results:
- 1. cheesemonster — $410,780
- 2. MarMoss — $249,375
- 3. SLmelonman — $161,500
- 4. frostey — $125,875

PokerStars Sunday Million
The PokerStars Sunday Million saw a rise from last week and had 7,112 participants in all, 256 up on seven days ago. The pot also grew as a result to $1,422,400 and left $200,000 for the first place winner.
Kared69 and etushekki fought it out for the top spot but Kared69 soon showed that he had the edge and claimed the extra $100k that 1st place was offering when he won the tourney.
The final results:
- 1. kared69 — $200,558
- 2. etushekki — $100,990

Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed
Bodog did not fare too well this week, but still shows improvement from last week – which is definitely a positive sign. The weekend tournament had a slightly larger player traffic which unfortunately was not enough to save them from having to put in their own money.
The winners this week were Panicked, JohnnyGstaks and cbayly12. JohnnyGstaks came in as runner up and Panicked (who was nothing but calm throughout the tournament) took home the big pot.
The final results:
- 1. Panicked — $23,600
- 2. JohnnyGstaks — $13,600
- 3. cbayly12 — $9,100
- 4. toddc — $7,000
- 5. evanholdswor — $5,700

- 7. AlfRoberts — $3,300

- 9. zdepew2000 — $1,300
Take your seat at one of the regular big weekend tournaments by signing up at Pokerstars , Full Tilt Poker or Bodog and you could be the one winning big money next week. Regular satellites run to these tournaments, so you can also win your seat for as little as a few dollars.
